The price of freedom is very high at this time.  Americans are being basically slaughtered right now.  We are in a very unstable country fighting a very hard war.  I have never been in the military.  I tried but was not accepted.  I have a dark black past and the military didn't seem to think that I would be a good candidate.  This is something that at the time didn't really bother me because I was in a much darker place and didn't care, wasn't exactly patriotic, and the last thing I thought was going to bother me was not being able to fight for a country that, at that time, seemed to just want to lock me up and throw away the key.

Times change.  I have a much better outlook on my country.  I realize now what I didn't realize then.  This is it.  This is the greatest country on the planet, and unless you plan on leaving the planet, as an American, you should have be proud.  Now I wish I could have gotten into the military and been there fighting for the freedoms we don't often even realize are there.  We are free because of people just like the soldiers over in Iraq right now bled for us.  People may say we have no business being there or that we should pull out. If we pull out now, those soldiers who died did so in vane. We need to stand up and kick the living hell out of the terrorist groups that occupy Iraq and other parts of the world and leave Iraq knowing we will never be pushed around again.  The day the towers fell, we all wanted to kick butt, now it seems we want to tuck our tails and run, and the day we do that is the day the terrorist win.
